Scottish Highlands Tour

Get a flavour of the Highlands of Scotland within a day’s drive. Join your private guide for a very special day out.

The Trossachs are often described as the Highlands in miniature. They are famed for their lovely lochs (lakes), sweeping valleys (glens) and majestic hillsides (bens). From your private vehicle, keep your eyes open too for Scotland’s characteristic wildlife, including shaggy Highland cattle, eagles, ospreys, red squirrels and stags. Or just relax by counting the fluffy sheep: rural Scotland has three times as many sheep as people! You may even be the lucky person who finally gets a verifiable picture of the world-famous Loch Ness Monster!

Continuing on the Duke’s Pass the journey delights with highland cottages, lochs and fantastic scenery, before sweeping down into a town to Loch Katrine, made famous by the writer Sir Walter Scott in ‘Lady of the Lake.’ Enjoy a cruise on the lake or walk or cycle on foot around what is now a source of water for the great city of Glasgow.

You could get your private driver to extend your Highlands visit northwards to pleasant country towns like Callander, Dunblane or Doune – famous for its Castle filmed for Outlander, Game of Thrones and even Monty Python!. Close by is the picturesque Deanston distillery, allowing you to finish your day with a ‘wee dram’ of Scotch whisky.

Heading south back to Edinburgh or Glasgow, stop off in the small city of Stirling to visit its imposing castle or the battlefield at Bannockburn. This is ‘Braveheart’ country, celebrated in Mel Gibson’s Oscar-winning movie of that name. Hear tales of early Scotland’s great heroes, William Wallace and Robert the Bruce.
