Introduction:

I qualified top of my year as a Blue Badge Tourist Guide in 2009. As a Driver Guide I enjoy showing my clients the glorious British countryside, and the delights of our Stately Homes. And I am equally happy doing Walking Tours around London. I have a particular interest in Monarchy and the Aristocracy, and specifically the Stately Homes of England.

I have lectured on the subject of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Perdonal Jewellery Collection

Past clients have been kind enough to say:
'Viv was as good as a Tour Guide gets. She was knowledgable, a great story teller, enthusiastic, energetic, and fun. One of the best tours I've had'.
'Viv was beyond fabulous - both boys loved it! She had a great way of connecting with the boys and we all learned so much'.
'Thank you for such a wonderful tour of Spitalfields + Shoreditch. We all loved it and thought you were amazingly knowledgeable. Super impressed at all you know about Street Art - your children should be aware that they have a very 'cool' mother!'
'We wanted to express our utmost appreciation for guiding us in and around London, the Cotswolds and beyond. Your hospitality, professionalism, knowledge, enthusiasm, patience, warmth and sense of humour made all the difference and provided us with an educational, fun and unforgettable experience. In fact, the whole family wants to adopt you and take you home with us! We feel so fortunate not only to have had the privilege of having you as our Guide but also of meeting you and getting to know you. We feel like we won the jackpot - you are a true prize!'
'Viv was simply a joy to spend time with. She was wonderful, personable, engaging, with a staggering knowledge base. She paced everything perfectly. I would recommend her to anyone looking for the best private guide!'
'Viv is a powerhouse! What knowledge and delivery! Amazing amount of fascinating, infectious enthusiasm for her subject - she was quite brilliant!'
'You are a terrific ambassador for your city and, perhaps more than anything, the British monarchy. Many Americans view the monarchy as outdated and serving little purpose, but you provided a real appreciation of how England's monarchs helped create Pax Brittanica and spread your culture throughout the world. Perhaps Buckingham Palace should put you on a retainer. You can give them our endorsement...'
'I want you to know how much our family enjoyed being with you during our recent visit to London. You were just wonderful and a terrific representative of this very special and historic City. Your vast knowledge made our various tours especially enjoyable. We all learned so much and we certainly won't soon forget the special time we spent with you. And our grandchildren consider you a new 'best friend'. Our trip would not have been the success it was had it not been for you. Thank you for the courtesy you extended - your assistance meant a great deal to all of us.'
'Viv was incredibly passionate about the subject and a delight to have as our host. We loved the tour and Viv was simply the 'whole package'. Definitely the best tour of our trip.'
But my best moment was when the great story-teller, Khaled Hosseini (The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, And The Mountains Echoed')' said: 'Thank you for the stories'.

I have a degree from Durham University.
I am currently studying part-time for a Research Masters in the History of the British Country House (University of Buckingham)
My aim is to be informative, but fun.

History & Prehistory

Social History of London. The effect of the Great Fire and the move West. The development of the aristocratic estates. Changing face of Spitalfields, Clerkenwell, Pimlico and Chelsea.

Royalty

This is my favourite bit! I know the facts and the tittle-tattle surrounding today's Royal Family and Kings and Queens of the past. I'm the guide who knows the names of the Royal Corgis and the Duke of Edinburgh's favourite beer!

Walking Tours

Will tailor-make a walk to your requirements - perhaps a literary trail, an exploration of 'Bloody Smithfield', a stroll round one of London's 'villages', the Clubs and Shops of St James's or Westminter at War.

Churches & Cathedrals

Let me show you some of Wren's city Churches, or his glorious masterpiece - St Paul's. Or I can show you around the Coronation Church - Westminster Abbey.

Museums

I can make informative and fun your visit to the Churchill War Rooms, the Charles Dickens Museum, the Geffrye Museum, the V+A, the Foundling Museum and of course the British Museum.

Stately Homes & Country Houses

Did I say Royalty was my favourite bit? Well, I love Stately Homes too! Tricky thing to list my Top 10, but Chatsworth, Blenheim, Wilton, Burghley, Haddon Hall, Knole, Wentworth Woodhouse, Hardwick Hall, Hatfield, Highclere, Hever Castle (oops that's 11) have got to be up there.

Walking Tours

Whether it is walking part of the Cotswolds Way or pounding the pavements of London, the best way to absorb the sights and sounds of town + countryside is on two feet.
