Heart of England

Based in Oxford, I give walking tours of the city as well as providing tours of the Heart of England region in my own private-hire minibus, operating under the name of GULLIVER’S GUIDES. I have a background in travel publishing and photography, and I love the great outdoors. I am passionate about history, and feel just as much at home with ancient stone circles as industrial heritage.
I also happen to be a descendant of the Banbury Gullivers, whose graves in St Mary’s churchyard, Banbury, inspired Jonathan Swift to a name for his famous protagonist. So why not embark on your own journey of discovery? Whether it’s for Windsor or the Wye Valley, the Cotswolds or the Iron Bridge, I am keen to take visitors where they want to go, creating bespoke tours that can last from a few hours to several days. A trip to Oxford can be combined with seeing the Cotswolds; Ironbridge with the Shropshire Hills; Stratford with the Warwick Castle and Banbury; the Wye Valley with the Forest of Dean and Gloucester. Tours can be moulded to specific interests, whether they be in music, literature, science, industrial heritage, archaeology, arts & crafts, country houses, gardens, ancient churches, film locations, gastronomy and even tracing your ancestors.
"He is extremely knowledgeable of all varied facts and history of this area and presents them in a fun and informative way. We nicknamed him the Professor after the first day…" Sandy and Charlene, US
