Hello. Please join me for a journey across London or beyond for a few hours, a full day, or longer – on foot, by car or coach.
I have enjoyed a long and successful arts career: founding London’s Serpentine Gallery, directing the Photographers’ Gallery and creating The Big Draw, a world-wide festival of drawing. I’m proud to have been presented the MBE (Order of the British Empire) for services to art by HRH Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.
I'm eager to take you from Botticelli to Brit-Art. Starting at the National Gallery and finishing at Tate Modern, we could add a private tour of the home of Henry Moore, a giant of 20th century sculpture. Or if you fancy seeing up-and-coming artists, let’s visit my other favourite galleries and artists’ studios.
I like bringing historic monuments and modern sculptures – commemorating great heroines and heroes – to life through little-known, and sometimes scandalous, stories about them.
The Victoria & Albert Museum displays amazing decorative arts from every continent. You can’t see them all in one visit, nor the 60,000 treasures at the British Museum. But I love introducing their highlights. England has museums of everything; I promise to find one to match your interests!
My other speciality is time-travel for individuals, families and groups: from ancient Romans in the heart of London’s Square Mile to modern Royals in Kensington Palace and Windsor Castle, where Prince Harry married Meghan.
Perhaps you’d like to follow in the tracks of Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Dr Johnson, Charles Dickens, Henry James or Virginia Woolf. En route we will meet such celebrities as Shakespeare’s tearaway Prince Hal (later Henry V), J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan (the boy who never grew up) and J.K. Rowling’s magical Harry Potter.
England is home to great theatres, restaurants and pubs and, as a frequent customer, I can offer expert advice and secure tickets and reservations.
My special interests are Art, Artists, Galleries & Museums, Gardens, Theatres, Early Medical London and England at War
