Introduction:

I look forward to meeting you in the South West of England! Many of my tours are on foot or in your car or chauffeur-driven. I cover the heritage "must" of Bath, the unspoilt countryside of the Cotswolds, the spectacular landscapes of Devon and Cornwall, and the history and mystery of Stonehenge and Avebury. I show you contemporary life as well as history, business and politics, and I guide in galleries and museums. Introducing my country to visitors is a pleasure after a 30-year career talking for Britain in government jobs in London, Brussels and abroad. You will find me especially passionate about our countryside, coastlines, wildlife, gardens and sports. With me as your guide, you see Bath with someone who grew up there; you see Oxford with a graduate of the University; and you see Salisbury Cathedral with a former in-house volunteer guide. I also guide in French. I no longer drive my own private tours.

Britain Today

My guests get a full picture of what contemporary life is like in Britain today, and all that is distinctive and unique about it

History & Prehistory

There is always a story to tell about a street scene, building or character from the past! At little-known prehistoric sites, as well as Stonehenge, I show how early man moulded the landscape.

Gardens

One of the chief creative passions of the English! I tour to the great landscape gardens of the 18th century, as well as to special gardens that may only be open to the public one day a year.

Castles & Palaces

From Royal Palaces to romantic ruins, there are amazing artistry and lifestyles to discover!

Countryside

You only begin to understand the English when you get out of London and discover the charm of the country lanes and villages. I regularly tour in well-known areas like the Cotswolds, and lesser known spots in the south west where I grew up.
