I grew up in the 60s and 70s in Hampshire and Wiltshire, then three years at Oxford University. In 2015, after eight years as Director of an international organisation, I moved back to England, resolved to show off my ’home’ area, just as I had enjoyed discovering Denmark in my time there.

Southern and South Western England are full of interesting and beautiful places; some very visible while others are harder to find. Its importance in North European history, and in shaping modern English identity makes it fascinating to explore. The region has also played its part in the history of other parts of the world, especially the northern Americas.

Update: I have now qualified to guide also throughout South West England, also with its National Parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, UNESCO sites, and heritage.
