Introduction:

I am a born and bred Londoner and cannot wait to show you around my city. From Westminster Abbey to the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral to the parks, the Royal family to Rock ‘n’ roll London, I will reveal its myriad delights, its pageantry and its secrets. I have been an International tour director since 2014 and a qualified Blue Badge since 2022.

I am happy guiding large groups, families or individuals. I am flexible and happy to plan a bespoke day or half day around your needs, either on a coach, by car or on foot. London is an exciting, fun and safe destination. I look forward to telling you about the great, the good and not so good who have trodden its pavements or lurked in its alleyways. I have a walk - The London Horror - for the not-so-squeamish.

I specialise in the Rock ‘n’ Roll classic rock era (Beatles, Stones, Who, Floyd). I also offer James Bond/Spy walks, strictly confidential, of course. I have a BA Hons in Fine Arts and it would be my pleasure to guide you through the National Gallery, the British Museum, the Tate’s, Wallace or other collections.

I prefer conversation to a lecture and to explore rather to bore. I also offer theatre and West End/Soho walks and am fully qualified to guide in Bath, Oxford, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Stratford-upon-Avon and Windsor castle.

My background is in teaching, writing and the arts. I teach at Cambridge Madingley Hall and Southampton Solent University, as well as at Marlborough College Summer school. I have published both non-fiction and novels. Spirit of the Blitz (a YA novel) references my interest in the London Blitz.

2022 Testimonials.

“Marc was brilliant. Fun, theatrical and knowledgeable at every turn. Don’t miss London without him.” Stephanie Clarey Travel for teens. (US) May 2022.

“Excellent is not a strong enough word to describe how fantastic Marc was on our trip. He was one of the most talented, friendly and brilliant individuals I’ve had the good fortune to work with. His demeanour with the students was a positive one, his knowledge of his content was impressive, and his ability to bring humour and life into the lessons of the trip was brilliant. Marc was thorough in his planning, ensuring there would be no hiccups or surprises. The students genuinely bonded with him, and truly enjoyed the experience thanks to his presence. I am looking forward to another trip with Marc in the near future. “
Robert Leonard Washingtonville, New York, Teacher.
