Born North London, I initially trained as an actor and then worked as a Drama teacher, so I have experience working with school children, school groups and families. I have worked in several London theatres and with the RSC. Coming from that background I naturally love the story -telling aspect of guiding.
I work with groups from all spheres and of all ages , from primary school children to lawyers to supermarket workers to meet-up groups and my specialities are varied.I am as happy doing corporate as I am with a family with kids. If youre interested in the ethnic side of London then come on my Jewish London walk;if you prefer the more sinister then join me for Jack the Ripper, Ghosts of London or hear about the beheadings at the Tower of London; or maybe you would like a simple historic look at Westminster, the City, St Paul's Cathedral or Westminster Abbey; alternatively you may be intrigued by a certain neighbourhood; we can discover Southwark, an area Shakespeare will have known very well with its theatres and taverns; Clerkenwell and its links with Charles Dickens, Oliver Cromwell, Karl Marx and Lenin.
On the other hand, you may fancy a stroll through the East End to hear about the music hall, the Sidney Street Siege and the Kray twins; for those lovers of the Victorian novel we can discover the world of Charles Dickens or Sherlock Holmes or, if you prefer something from the Tudor period we can visit Hampton Court, one of Henry Eighths favourite palaces or take a walk on the south side of the river and see the world from Shakespeare's point of view; or perhaps you prefer a more modern tour, for example, one centred around the Beatles where we go to Abbey Road and discover the meaning of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. If youre a Jane Austen fan, I have a specially customised tour of the south of England visitig sites associated to the great Victorian novelist
As for me, I am a relatively young guide, with a light-hearted yet detailed approach to my work who adores London with its nooks and crannies and endless anecdotes- there are some great stories and characters associated with this city. I hope to share my passion for this great capital city with you and your friends and family.
I am also a licenced driver-guide with a Vauxhall Zafira that can carry six passengers (perfect for families) so, other than driving you round London, out of town visits can be arranged to Bath, Canterbury, Chartwell(Winston Churchill's home), the Cotswolds, Oxford, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Windsor. And as far as off the beaten track venues you can visit Hever Castle, one time home of Anne Boleyn; Beaulieua, a beautiful country house and home of the National Motor Museum and a James Bond exhibition; or Painswick, a truly picturesque Cotswold village. If there is not something here for you let me know and I will research it! Otherwise, I look forward to meeting you.
