A Londoner, born and bred I taught in schools and Further Education for 32 years before deciding to train as a guide. I love London and all of the other popular sites in the UK and I have guided groups of young children, teenagers (yes, some stroppy!)student groups, family groups and lots of "young-at-heart" groups (U3A, Round Table etc) and so I have experience with every age. I also won the prize for the best presentation at St Paul's Cathederal in the Blue Badge examinations.

I like to make my trips as interesting, informative, but above all fun, with my clients as I possibly can. I fit in with their requirements - not the other way around!

I look forward to hearing from you to discuss your requirements for a guided tour. I will always try to exceed your expectations! Please see my testamonials on Trip Advisor (Gowing Private Gowing)

Best wishes

Special Interests:

London Areas in Depth

I am very comfortable in all of the areas of London, from Holland Park to Docklands. I have an especially fond regard for Chelsea: I was born there!

Having worked in Education for 32 years I have a great understanding of the system and have guided groups of teachers both from home and abroad.

My love of wild country and my experience of leading groups into the mountains of the UK has further developed my knowledge of the flora and fauna to be found in those locations

My main subjects at college were Sport and English Literature. I taught both subjects for many years. I love taking groups on literary walks covering specific authors or general literature from Moby Dick to Harry Potter.

Sports & Pastimes

I studied the history and development of sport at university and I taught the subject for many years up to A level standard, delivering the Olympic Module on A level Sports Studies.

I have worked in FE college with Special Needs Departments and escorted and guided groups and individuals with special challenges. I havealso coached special needs groups in several sports, including canoeing.

I have a real love of the countryside from my mountain qualifications and experience and I am very happy (and qualified!) in a rural setting.

Paganini to Pink Floyd, Handel to Hendrix. Bring them on. I was also a mid-life crisis rocker (drummer) !

Churches & Cathedrals

I have a great love of the City churches and St Paul's, in particular. I won the "outstanding performance" in the BB practical exams 2008. I also have an interest for the churches in The City of London.

Walking Tours

One of the best ways to explore is on foot. I am very happy taking groups around places of interest in this manner or hopping on public transport to extend the range. I cover all areas of London. I also do Nursery Rhyme, Sherlock Holmes, Dickens and The Krays' East End.
