I am a Geographer by training, a Transport Planner by profession, and a discoverer by nature. In my role as a Blue Badge Guide it gives me great pleasure to help you to discover South West, South and South East England as well.

I am happy to interpret your requirements and help you plan personalised tours and trips, incorporating some unknown and off-the-beaten-track places as well as the famous and 'must do' locations.

I am based in Royal Berkshire, close to the borders with Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, so can welcome you to the delights of the Thames and Chilterns area or organise trips from that area further afield. My specialisms are history, historic towns and places, geography, transport and the countryside.

I am proud to be an Ambassador for the Great West Way, 125 miles of exploration between London and Bristol.

I have a wide selection of talks for groups, either in person or online. Please see my website or enquire for details.

I am a qualified guide examiner and examination compiler, and a recent Chair of the Examinations Committee of the Institute of Tourist Guiding.

Castles & Palaces

Windsor Castle and Blenheim Palace are just two of the best of the many castles and palaces that this country can offer. Let me show you these and many other stately homes and houses.

Maritime Britain

From mercantile Bristol to naval Portsmouth, via England's extensive network of canals and rivers. Let me show you some of the delights of this country's waterways.

Churches & Cathedrals

Visit some of England's finest cathedrals, abbeys and chapels with me; Exeter, Wells, Bath, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Salisbury, Winchester or St. George's Chapel Windsor, to name a few. NEW - let me introduce you to Henry the First's Reading Abbey.

Conferences & Incentives

I have worked with groups of 2 and of 150, and everything in between. I am happy to discuss personalised and group tours and visits to coincide with your conference. Or I have various illustrated talks that I can present at your meeting or online using Zoom.

Geography & Geology

Let me use my training as a Geographer to show some of the finest landscapes that Britain has to offer. Here are just a few: South Downs chalk, North Downs greensand, Chilterns Hills beech woods, Cotswolds sheeplands, New Forest, Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, Dartmoor, Exmoor, coastal erosion and deposition, marine and estuary environments. Phew!

Walking Tours

I am a qualified walk (hike) leader. I can organise specific urban and rural walking tours, of differing lengths, to match your desires and ability.

Industrial Heritage

South West, South and South East England have some of the finest industrial heritage; Portsmouth and Chatham dockyards, Bucklers Hard, the port of Bristol, Cornish mining World Heritage Site, and many rivers and canals. Let me interpret their history for you.

Regional Tours

From a central base I can work with you to plan and guide you on days out or a series of touring days throughout the South West, South and South East of England. Come and explore off the beaten track with me.
NEW - The Great West Way offers a fantastic opportunity to explore the 125 mile corridor from Bristol to London, and I'm at the heart of it and pleased to be one initial batch of Great West Way Ambassadors.

Special Needs

I have worked with, and understand the needs of, wheelchair users, people with special needs and their carers, and would love to help you all to make the most of your visit.

As a transport planner by profession, I have a wealth of knowledge on the infrastructure that moves and has moved Britain, be it ancient drove routes, the roads of the Romans, the 18th and 19th century canal system, the golden age of railways or today's intricate road network.

Ghosts, Murders & Mysteries

Midsomer Murders (Inspector Barnaby) is 138 episodes young. Come and see the area for yourself as I show you some of the many towns and villages where filming has taken place. You could be standing where your favourite episode took place.

Like many people I have been fascinated with tracing my ancestors, and have lines going back at least to the 17th century in eleven English counties. I'd love to be able to help you with your links by working with you to plan a tour where your families came from.
