I'm David and I am a Blue Badge Guide for the Central Southern Region of England. My first career was teaching and I spent 27 years working in English Secondary Schools, where I taught Drama/Performing Arts, reaching the level of Assistant Head-Teacher. I now love sharing my passion for history, knowledge and learning with my guests, as I guide them around the fabulous historical and cultural sites of our amazing country.
My main guiding areas are:
The historic city of Oxford and Oxfordshire (including the Oxfordshire Cotswolds and Blenheim Palace).
Berkshire including Runnymede (where Magna Carta was sealed) and of course Windsor/Windsor Castle.
I also cover all of the following areas:
Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight.
The following are just a few of the significant sites in this extensive area:
Stonehenge and Avebury, the two most important sites in our ancient history.
Salisbury and Winchester, ancient cities with awe-inspiring cathedrals.
The Jurassic Coast, home of dinosaur bones and a fossil hunters.
Portsmouth and Southampton, central cities in our maritime heritage.

General Tour Guiding Services:
I am genuinely delighted to guide individual guests and groups of all sizes and ages, including families with younger children. I can meet you at your destination, travel with you in your own vehicle or arrange provision of a private hire taxi, through a local company. I am also available to provide 'Tour Management' services.

School/Youth Groups:
My career as a teacher means that I have wide ranging experience of leading trips and visits for students of all ages. I can advise and support in the preparation of appropriate learning resources, focusing on the site/s we are visiting, to ensure that the experience is differentiated for students of all abilities. I speak good French and although I am not yet qualified to guide in this language, this may assist in the administration of groups from France.

I will, of course, be guided by you in terms of what you want to see.
I look forward to meeting you!
