Hi there, I’m Anna, a Blue Badge Tourist Guide for the North East of England. I specialise in walking, cycling and coach tours of Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham and Teeside in both English and German.
Regardless of whether you are local and would like to find out more about what’s on your doorstep or a visitor to the North East wanting to immerse yourself on your travels, there is so much we can explore together!
As a graduate of Art History and Archaeology, I’m passionate about showing off our amazing cultural heritage at our region's UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Hadrian's Wall and Durham Cathedral.
Enjoy fun and engaging tours of the region’s towns and cities, cathedrals, museums and art galleries. I may be German by birth but I’m definitely Geordie by choice and I look forward to showing you around my home turf!

Castles & Palaces | Northumberland boasts THE most castles in Britain with over 70, Alnwick Castle and Bamburgh Castle starred in many films and one even made it into a Shakespeare drama! |
Churches & Cathedrals | We're fortunate to have Durham Castle and Cathedral UNESCO World Heritage Site on our doorstep, one of the most magnificent Norman structures in all of Britain. |
Walking Tours | As a Sheepdog owner, we do a lot of walking! We have several long-distance hiking trails to choose from: Northumberland Coast Path, St. Cuthbert's Way, St. Oswald's Way and, of course, Hadrian's Wall Path. |
Literature | There is a plethora of famous local writers starting with Dame Catherine Cookson's romances, Terry Deary's "Horrible Histories", Ann Cleeves' brilliant crime fiction series "Shetland" & "Vera" or Lee Hall's "Billy Elliot". As a keen reader I've got my eye on more obscure, yet fantastic, local writers and am happy to give literature-themed tours. |
Folklore & Traditions | Maybe because I'm not originally from the North East I find its local traditions and folklore all the more fascinating. From Border Reiver ballads to the Big Meeting in Durham. I'm happy to share my finds with you. |
Industrial Heritage | We were (and maybe still are) the Powerhouse of the North. Newcastle's Industrial past is mind-blowing: from railways, to lightbulbs, great ships to coal mining. Where to start? |
Religion | Lindisfarne Island is the cradle of Christianity in the North and St. Cuthbert's relics at Durham Cathedral were once the most visited shrine in all of Britain. |
International Links | What can I say? I may be German by birth and am happy to collect German visitors at our local DFDS Ferry Port in North Shields to show them around. |
Interpreting & Translating | I have over 10 years of experience in working as a German-English translator. |
