RUSSIANS IN LONDON FROM THE MID-16TH CENTURY TO THE PRESENT DAY- Thu 10 Jan 14:00
January 10 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm£12
Many places in London are linked to the Russians who left their mark on the city’s history. A godfather of Queen Victoria; a diplomat whose debt spree culminated in a new Act of Parliament; a dancer who became a symbol of ballet; two inmates of Brixton prison who later became ministers in their homeland and even “Bolshevism was born in Tottenham Court Road”. Natasha Dissanayake, a BB Guide and the author of the recently published book “The Fate and Fortunes of Russians in London” (in Russian) will give a talk that will be illustrated with many pictures and rare photos.
Copies of Natasha’s book will be for sale after the talk.
