This month we have a few special birthday celebrations to share with you, including one very Royal one. After this cold winter we are really hoping that April means the start of Spring. Finally we should be able to get outside and enjoy the flowers, gardens and architecture that Britain has to offer.
1.Celebrate the Queen’s birthday
Happy birthday to HRH Queen Elizabeth II who turns 92 on April 21st. The Queen has six royal residences so I wonder which one she will choose to celebrate the day in. If you’re visiting Britain then one of the must see royal residences is Windsor Castle. Follow our Blue Badge Guide, Laura Comley-Smith on a tour around Windsor.
2. The Stratford Literary Festival
This month our favourite playwright, William Shakespeare also has a birthday and what trip to Britain would be complete without taking in a bit of Shakespeare. Although he didn’t live in a castle he has lived in some interesting places and here we tell you where you can find them. Combine your trip to Stratford-upon-Avon with the Stratford literary festival taking place from 22-29 April.

3. Visit Bristol
We also celebrate the birthday of the great engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It’s a great excuse to visit Bristol and see amongst other things the breathtaking Clifton Suspension Bridge which he designed. To add to your trip there is the recently opened Brunel museum. Bristol has recently been shortlisted for ‘Best City in the UK’ in the Luxury Lifestyle Magazine Readers’ Travel Awards for 2018. It has also been voted as one of the top 52 places to visit by the NY Times. So book a private tour of the City with a Blue Badge guide and we can show you why.

4. April flowers (not showers please)
Time to celebrate spring with a visit to a flower show. The Cardiff Flower show runs from 13-15 April and you can combine your visit with a BB Guided tour of this fascinating city. If you’re headed further North then head to the Harrogate Flower show which runs from 26-29 April.
