Whether you want a 'light-touch' introduction to London, or an in-depth exploration - whether it's Royal 'behind-the-scenes' tittle-tattle you hanker for, or a detailed explanation of the history of parliamentary democracy, I want to Guide you!
I am a mother of three and am very aware of the interest and concentration spans of young people - so am well placed to work with family groups. Let me bring English history to life by showing you the Abbey or the Tower of London. Or on a Walking Tour with me you could familiarize yourself with one of London's villages - I can tell you about the mini-skirt and Punk Rock in Chelsea, courtiers and courtesans in St James's, and Victorian vice and Georgian silk in Spitalfields.

Further afield I can show you Britain's beautiful countryside, take you to 'chocolate box-pretty villages' and cosy English pubs, introduce you to the joys of the English country garden and delight you with the riches of our Treasure Houses.

Past clients have been kind enough to say:
'Viv was as good as a Tour Guide gets. She was knowledgable, a great story teller, enthusiastic, energetic, and fun. One of the best tours I've had'.
'Viv was beyond fabulous - both boys loved it! She had a great way of connecting with the boys and we all learned so much'.
But my best moment was when Khaled Hosseini (The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, And The Mountains Echoed')' said: 'Thank you for the stories'.

My aim is to be informative, but fun.

Personal Interests:

The Romans in London, The Great Fire
Development of the West End, Literary trails
Enlightening + entertaining tours to suit you

Special Interests:

Castles & Palaces

I would love to show you our Royal Palaces - past and present.
Tower of London
Hampton Court Palace
Kensington Palace
Buckingham Palace
Windsor Castle
Banqueting House
Kew Palace
Osbourne House

I make no claim to being an art historian, but I can show you and help you to appreciate the collections of the National Gallery, Tate Britain, the National Portrait Gallery, Guildhall Art Gallery and the Wallace Collection.

History & Prehistory

Social History of London. The effect of the Great Fire and the move West. The development of the aristocratic estates. Changing face of Spitalfields, Clerkenwell, Pimlico and Chelsea.

This is my favourite bit! I know the facts and the tittle-tattle surrounding today's Royal Family and Kings and Queens of the past. I'm the guide who knows the names of the Royal Corgis and the Duke of Edinburgh's favourite beer!

Walking Tours

Will tailor-make a walk to your requirements - perhaps a literary trail, an exploration of 'Bloody Smithfield', a stroll round one of London's 'villages', the Clubs and Shops of St James's or Westminter at War.

Churches & Cathedrals

Let me show you some of Wren's city Churches, or his glorious masterpiece - St Paul's. Or I can show you around the Coronation Church - Westminster Abbey.

I can make informative and fun your visit to the Churchill War Rooms, the Charles Dickens Museum, the Geffrye Museum, the V+A, the Foundling Museum and of course the British Museum.

Stately Homes & Country Houses

Did I say Royalty was my favourite bit? Well, I love Stately Homes too! Tricky thing to list my Top 10, but Chatsworth, Blenheim, Wilton, Burghley, Haddon Hall, Knole, Wentworth Woodhouse, Hardwick Hall, Hatfield, Highclere, Hever Castle (oops that's 11) have got to be up there.

Walking Tours

Whether it is walking part of the Cotswolds Way or pounding the pavements of London, the best way to absorb the sights and sounds of town + countryside is on two feet.
