Dubbed the ‘new Harry Potter film’, the JK Rowling book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is currently being made into a movie.
The story recounts the adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards. Filming is taking place in the UK, with Liverpool’s buildings such as the grand, neo-classical St George’s Hall standing in for 1920s New York. Other scenes are being filmed at Warner Bros. studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire.
JK Rowling has written the screenplay herself and the film stars British Oscar winner, Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a magizoologist who arrives in New York on his journey to find magical creatures.
The first film in the Fantastic Beasts trilogy is due out in 2016.
